Our Saturday

Home Depot Kids Build

Saturday morning family fun included doughnuts, building and painting bunny baskets (just in time for Easter), and a nature walk at Huntely Meadows.

Caleb built his own project this time.

I got demoted from hammer duty to sticker placement.

We spotted a snake!

E's Finished Product

Saturday

We welcomed the 45-degree temperature and striking orange autumn leaves on our stroller run this morning.  Afterward, our team divided and conquered for morning activities.  Kyle and Eleanor built and painted a WWII helicopter in honor of Veterans Day at Home Depot.  Next door at Barnes and Noble, Caleb and I read books, made a new friend, and listened to children's songs about space from a scientist and musician.  Then, we all toured a house and enjoyed a pizza lunch date as a family.  When we got home, Kyle went out with friends and E had a playdate, too.

Below Freezing Crafting

Still the Early Stages of Our 4" of Accumulation

Well, the snow began just as we were heading out for a trip to Lakeshore Learning.  Every Saturday they host a free craft workshop for young kids, so we wanted to try it since the weather was quite atrocious.  As expected, Eleanor was very engaged while decorating her lion puppet and experimenting with all of the art supplies.

After finishing, she walked around the store playing with all of the enticing sample merchandise.  Her favorite items were the play kitchen, baby doll, and doctor set.  It was a bit of a feat getting her to leave, but that was nothing compared to the snowfall and traffic we fought to make it home.

However, as a sufferer of cabin fever, I say this adventure was definitely worth it.
