Chatting Up a Storm

We were at my parents' house when this video was shot. Eleanor could hardly get a word in with all of us together. Ha!

Feet are fascinating!

Anniversary

On our 5 year anniversary, we were still in Florida after the holidays.  Kyle and I kicked off the morning with breakfast out with Eleanor.  Then, we joined some of the family for Dad's surrey ride in downtown Winter Park.  It was a stroll down memory lane as we passed our church where we shared our vows on this exact day five years ago.

Christmas in Florida!

I was reminded of why Christmas with the O Gang is one of my absolute favorite times of the year... every year! The morning started early with lots of smiles and energy from Sam, Sadie and Lucas as they ravaged through their plentiful presents at Auntie and Unc Unc's house.  The kids' big gifts included the XBox (for Sam), American Girl and horse (for Sadie) and crawling tunnel (for Lucas).  By the looks of things, the elves must have worked overtime this year!

Well, all that unwrapping was enough to work up an appetite.  Before it was time to eat, I rushed home to wake Eleanor and Kyle (who were sleeping in since we'd had such a late Christmas Eve and Kyle had a painful tooth infection).  Once we were showered and dressed, our little family of three got to join the festivities together with the rest of the O gang.  (By the way, Eleanor looked like a perfect Christmas doll in her adorable "First Christmas" onesie adorned with red and green ribbons and bows.)  Once we arrived, I quickly entered a food coma from the cheese strata, bacon, coffee, and french toast that had been lovingly prepared by Mom, Val, and Uncle Neill.  As for the rest of the afternoon, we finished opening gifts, took photos, passed Eleanor around and just savored the peacefulness of the day and celebration of our Savior's birth.

We came together again that evening for a huge turkey dinner, one of the best I've ever devoured!  We wore our headlamps from Auntie and Unc Unc to remind us that we were the "light" of their life.  Then, we sang what we could remember of "This Little Light of Mine" and concluded the evening with Charley's cake and home videos of past Christmases.

Christmas with Eleanor

Placing Shiny Bows on the Most Perfect Gift of 2012

For Eleanor's first Christmas, we made the long drive from Virginia to Florida with the dogs. We split our time between both sides of the family since Kyle and I are both from Orlando. It was such a blessing to be with so many loved ones for the Holidays! Here's some of the fun we had with Kyle's family.

As usual, after the Christmas Eve church service, we celebrated with a generous dinner at Aunt Debby's house. Gumbo and bread pudding were served along with tons of other yummy dishes. The chocolate covered strawberries were my favorite! Kyle and I kept with our gift giving tradition and shared candied pecans with everyone. Presents were opened from youngest to oldest, which meant Eleanor got to go first. Don't fret; Kyle and I showed Eleanor the ropes and helped her with the unwrapping and "thank you's."

Of course, Eleanor enjoyed herself! In addition to receiving new Christmas outfits and ornaments, she got passed around and held by a handful of different family members. Riding Boudreaux the Dog, napping in Grammy's lap, and watching the fire were highlights of the night for her.  Plus, Eleanor got to stay up waaaaaaaaay past her bedtime. We're lucky Santa still had time to stop by after Eleanor finally made it to bed.

What a wonderful start to what will be many, many more special Christmas memories!

We celebrated early with Cory and Anne since they were headed up to Chicago for Christmas.
