Not Goodbye

We didn't want it to happen, but the time finally came for Xavier and the J family to pack up and move to Houston.  So, we celebrated them and our friendship with a party before we had to all say hasta luego (Spanish for see you later, not goodbye).  J Family, you'll be sorely missed!

Exercising

The doctor cleared me for exercise, so the next morning we all went for a run and stopped at the exercise stations along the way.  Hooray for push-ups, sit-ups, and step-ups!  What a healthy start to the day!

Easter Sunday

We were early risers on Easter morning, as we celebrated the Risen Christ at the sunrise service. There was live bluegrass playing on the front yard of the church while people filed in for worship. We all brought our lawn chairs and blankets and settled in with donuts and coffee.

I helped served communion by holding the chalice and remembering the blood that Jesus poured out for us. What a blessing to share in this sacrament with my church community and with Caleb housed inside me. After the service, Eleanor and I got to examine the empty tomb display and praise God that Jesus had died, but rose again. Hallelujah! Amen! (Even Eleanor loved recounting one of the greatest Bible stories ever.)

By the time we made it home, all of us were ready for a snooze.  We needed that rest because we ventured out to the zoo that afternoon.  Eleanor's favorite animal was the cow, which she got to pet.  Kyle liked the lions, and I fancied the sting rays.

After the zoo, we needed yet another rest because that evening we headed over to our cousins' home.  There, Eleanor, McKenzie, and Eva Cate took turns playing dolls and baby in the cradle.  Then, we shred a delicious meal with the entire G family before heading home for the night after a very, very full Easter Sunday.

Running low...

on your cuteness quota?

If so, this calls for a Caleb collage.

 You're welcome.

Yippee...

for the best little brother and best big sister that God could ever provide!

Park Picnic

Our family delighted in an evening picnic at a nearby Arlington park.  Eleanor had a blast running through the fountains of the splash pad.  Meanwhile, Kyle and I relaxed on the blanket with Caleb, ate dinner, and definitely stayed entertained by Eleanor's water play.

Caleb's 1 Month Old

Where did this last month go?  Who knows?
I'm just glad I got to spend so much of it with my little buddy.

Caleb Joseph is one month old and...
  • nurses about every 2-4 hours, except when cluster feeding
  • prefers huffing and puffing to crying
  • isn't phased by barking, jubilant toddler hugs, or in-your-face screaming from unnamed family members
  • loves snuggling and falling asleep on your chest or in your arms
  • willingly drinks from a bottle when he's extra hungry or when Mommy's away
  • can be soothed by a paci for temporary periods only
  • his favorite song is "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" (according to Big Sister who lovingly serenades him)
  • is content in his carseat for car and stroller rides
  • has active arms that squirm and wave wildly
  • sleeps soundly without a swaddle in a bassinet beside Mommy
  • gets hung up on burps, but rarely spits up
  • likes snoozing and hanging out in the sunlight
Weight: 10.5 lbs. (66th percentile)
Length: 21.75" (68th percentile)
Clothes: 3 mo.

Isn't he the sweetest?

I could kiss this face for days.  Think I will.
