Zoo Outing

It was one of our last opportunities to spend a weekday together before the start of school and work, so the kids and I ventured out to the National Zoo.  Eleanor was into the lions, and Caleb enjoyed the snake-necked turtles.  The stinky primate house was not on the favorite list.  All in all, it was a very MEMORABLE and LONG day together.

Turtle Scouting

We were gifted with some of Asheville's most gorgeous weather as we explored the Western Nature Center (WNC) on Monday.  The kids loved having free reign to scuttle around with Gaga and Granddaddy-O while checking out all of the animals.  Since Dad had requested hiking that day, we ventured off on a lovely nature trail running alongside the Nature Center.  Our day's outing was near perfect until Caleb misstepped in the dark reptile cove late in the afternoon and left a clear mold of his front two teeth in the wooden step-up box.  Once the tears and bleeding subsided, we had a picnic lunch before heading back to the cabin. 

The otters are always so entertaining!
