Guess Who

Tonight when I was laying down with Eleanor, she asked for a story... like she does every night.

I told Eleanor about an unnamed young lady.
I described her as beautiful with two permanent teeth on the bottom of her smile that lights up.
She has blue eyes and her nose and cheeks are speckled with freckles.
She's kind and loving and smart and hard working.
She's marvelous and wonderful.
God made her so special, and He loves her sooo much.
I love to kiss her and kiss her and kiss her (as I kissed her and kissed her and kissed her).

Well, Eleanor giggled with delight and said she knew who the story was about.
"Me," she squealed!
I don't know how she guessed it, but she was correct!

Eleanor's First Day of Kinder

We are so proud of our Eleanor!  She has missed her friends and teachers from her old school and was less than enthusiastic about beginning Kindergarten.  However, she was so brave and had a successful Meet the Teacher visit and first day.  Mom was a mess, but Eleanor was strong and full of grace.

The Realm of Solids

Just before her 6 month Birthday, we introduced solid food to Eleanor.  Bananas were on the menu first, and boy, were they a hit!

Kyle and I have made all of Eleanor's food, and we're following the recipes and guidelines found at www.wholesomebabyfood.com.

I'm keeping a record of Eleanor's experiences tasting her very first solids.  Check here for updates on her food frenzy!

Eleanor's First Banana Meal

Food
Date Introduced/ Like or Dislike?/ Reactions/ Notes

Cereals and Grains: (We skipped the rice, barley and oats and went straight for the fruits and veggies!)

Fruits:
Avacodos
3-17-13/ Like/ None/ Tried her first green solid food on St. Patrick's Day to celebrate and surprisingly took right to the avocado
Apples
3-24-13/Like/None/ Grammy Cheryl baked and pureed apples and fed them to Eleanor during her visit to D.C.  E loved the Fujis, and we're excited to have her try other kinds of apples.
Bananas
3-3-13/ Like/ None/ Loved nanners so much that she'd cry in between bites when we couldn't spoon it out fast enough
Pears
4-29-13/ Loved almost as much as bananas/ None/ She practically slurped down the liquidy pears!  Eleanor didn't even make a single funny face after tasting the pears for the first time.

Vegetables:
Sweet Potatoes
3-9-13/ Dislike/ None/ Frowned, squinted, coughed and spit it out as Annemarie and Cory fed her
Butternut Squash
4-16-13/ Like/ None/ Ate it happily!  She tried it for the first time when Des and Sam were visiting for a play date.
Green Beans
4-4-13/ Like/ None/ I steamed frozen cut green beans and Kyle pureed them.  Kyle and I both predicted she'd like the beans, and she did!  E now knows to open her mouth after she swallows when she wants another bite.  This makes it much easier to read when she is full or still hungry.

Thanking God to be with this friend today... and everyday.

My Darling Eleanor Claire

I nearly took a full-time job that would have kept me apart from Eleanor for 7+ hours during the work week.

Then, I decided against it, and God gave me immense peace about the choice.

Instead, I'll be caring for Eleanor and going to school for speech and language pathology.  Sounds heavenly to me!

My love is overflowing for Sweetie Girl!

This face melts my heart!

She's a real hoot!

Rolling All Around

Grammy's Back!

Grammy Cheryl decided to make a trip up to D.C. at the end of March to celebrate her birthday!  It sure made us feel special and certainly was a gift... for us all!

"Grandma says I'm purrrfect!"

What a pair!

Having fun with Grammy on this cold Spring day!

Eleanor may be wearing kitties on her clothes, but she's a dog lover at heart!

We couldn't get Eleanor to look at the camera, so we decided to scout out what she was starring at.

Mirror games are the best!

We're wearing (and eating) green for the Irish!

For Eleanor's first St. Patrick's Day, we were able to keep with the O family tradition and eat green food today!  Avocado it was, and Eleanor devoured it.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
I sure am one lucky lady!

This was Eleanor's first time trying avocado, and it was a hit.
