After almost a year-long reservation, the time for our annual summer Assateague camping trip had finally arrived. We saw quite a few ponies this trip and got to meet some new friends, the H and M families. Both Eleanor and Caleb could not get enough of the ocean and beach, and we spent quite a few hours just playing in the waves and sand. Eleanor enjoyed lots of quality time playing with Alexis, and we all were thankful to reunite with the P family for another camping trip together.
Saturday morning could not have been more beautiful with its amazing cloud coverage and cooler temperatures; it felt heavenly. One of Eleanor's trip highlights was the s'more roasting, and I'd wager Caleb is part crab judging by his affinity for sand (laying in it, rolling in it, and getting it in our tent and every crevice of his toddler body). Less than pleasant were the bugs, which became overwhelming at night. Also, Caleb at two years old was a rascal when it came to listening and wandering away. Kyle got a serious bite that became infected, and I broke out in hives our first morning. Despite this, we made some incredible memories together and had lots of awesome adventures to dream about when we happily made it back to our own beds again on Sunday night.
