Magic Tree House

Here is the series that Eleanor and I started reading together in March.  It tells the story of a brother and sister, Jack and Annie, who discover a magic treehouse filled with books.  The kids get transported inside the stories to different time periods and have great adventures solving mysteries and trying to make it back home safely.  We're on the sixth book so far and have enjoyed reading about cool topics like mummies, pirate life, the Amazon rainforest, etc.  More than the characters and the interesting plots, Eleanor really can't get enough of the special time we spend snuggling up on the couch or bed reading and discussing the stories together.  It really has become a very cherished time for both of us.

Reading

I caught Eleanor reading aloud her big sister story to herself and had to capture it on video.  At this age of nearly three, she really enjoys books and will ask to have her favorites read to her over and over again.  We've really been encouraging her love of literacy and are thrilled to watch her enjoying different characters and their adventures.  When Mom and Dad aren't around she'll explore books on her own in her room and even fall asleep on top of several at night.  What a little bookworm!

E and Her Gaga

What are grandmothers good for?  Wearing bibs and playing babies, of course!

Gaga's good for reading too!
