Bud's School Update

What a fun week together! We've continued keeping snow on our radar and painted Van Gogh scenes using foil and q-tips. They are beautiful works of art and will be displayed soon. Icicles, made with squeezing the glue bottle and shaking glitter, hang in our classroom also. Both of these activities assist with the development of both fine and gross motor skills. The Sprouts also were introduced to the waffle blocks which made for some great building opportunities. Our sensory bin is full of different size paper, pipe cleaners and fabric for the Sprouts to explore. We have also created community snowflakes using fabric handprints. The play dough has continued to be a hit in our classroom and we really appreciate your time in making the fresh weekly batches.

The Front Yard

It is so nice having a big front yard to play in on frigid winter days.  This way we don't have far to go when we're ready for a warm cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows!

Caleb just wanted the marshmallows!

E's School Update

The Bears study for awhile is going to be everything Gingerbread. This is what we are going to present for our Literacy Fair in May, so we will be working on this for some time. There is so much to do and the Bears learn so much from it and have a great time.

This week we read three books, The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Girl, and The Gingerbread Girl Goes Animal Crackers. They love these books. They come alive for them because we take this to a 3D level.

We began by painting our Gingerbread house. We even actually made brown by mixing different colors! We then, traced Gingerbread Men and Girls on the light table. This is great for their focus and fine motor skills. They, then decorated their Gingerbread people and placed them on the house. The house is adorable. We will continue to do this until the house is filled with Gingerbread people, even Gingerbread babies!!

We acted out "The Gingerbread Man " story with each Bear having a part. This really helps with their comprehension of the story and they have a lot of fun doing it.

Next week we will continue with our study. There are so many books to read. We have just begun!

E's School Update

The Bears had a short week, just three days. We had the MLK holiday on Monday and Inauguration Day on Friday.

On Tuesday, we talked about who Martin Luther King was and his "I Have A Dream" speech. We asked each Bear what their dream would be for our nation. They came up with some very cute thoughts, that each child would have a bed to sleep in, that each child would have medicine if they need it, that their would be no war, that everyday would be Christmas and so on. Please come in to our classroom and read what the children's dreams are.

We also read Bible stories for children this week. "The Good Samaritan " and "David and Goliath " were two that we read. We talked about the importance of love and that God loves all people. We are all created equal in his eyes.

We also read "The Little Seal." The children love to be read to, pay attention and then answer questions after the book. Their focus and comprehension is really good. They are growing a lot.
